Iversun is one of the best generic Ivermectin which is prescribed for the treatment of river blindness (onchocerciasis), intestinal infections caused by threadworms (strongyloidiasis), and various other parasitic worm infections.

As an anthelmintic, ivermectin disrupts the nerve and muscle functions of worms, effectively paralyzing and eliminating them.

Dosing Instructions

General Guidelines:

The amount of medication depends on its strength, the number of doses needed per day, the interval between doses, and the duration of treatment, which are determined based on the specific medical condition being treated.

For Oral Tablets

Treatment for River Blindness (Onchocerciasis)

  • Adults and children weighing 15 kg or more:
    The dose is based on body weight and determined by your doctor. Typically, 150 micrograms (mcg) per kilogram (kg) of body weight is taken as a single dose. Treatment may be repeated every 3 to 12 months. Each tablet contains 3 milligrams (mg) of ivermectin.
    • Weighing 85 kg or more: 150 mcg/kg as a single dose.
    • 65–84 kg: 4 tablets as a single dose.
    • 45–64 kg: 3 tablets as a single dose.
    • 26–44 kg: 2 tablets as a single dose.
    • 15–25 kg: 1 tablet as a single dose.
  • Children weighing less than 15 kg:
    Use and dosage must be determined by your doctor.

Treatment for Threadworms (Strongyloidiasis)

  • Adults and children weighing 15 kg or more:
    The dose is based on body weight and determined by your doctor. Typically, 200 micrograms (mcg) per kilogram (kg) of body weight is taken as a single dose. Each tablet contains 3 milligrams (mg) of ivermectin.
    • Weighing 80 kg or more: 200 mcg/kg as a single dose.
    • 66–79 kg: 5 tablets as a single dose.
    • 51–65 kg: 4 tablets as a single dose.
    • 36–50 kg: 3 tablets as a single dose.
    • 25–35 kg: 2 tablets as a single dose.
    • 15–24 kg: 1 tablet as a single dose.
  • Children weighing less than 15 kg:
    Use and dosage must be determined by your doctor.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose.

  • Sensation of spinning (vertigo)
  • Painful or difficult urination
  • Fever
  • Rapid weight gain
  • Shakiness or tremors in the hands, arms, legs, or feet
  • Sore throat or mouth ulcers
  • Tingling in the hands or feet
  • Trouble breathing
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising
  • Extreme fatigue or weakness
  • Unusual weight changes

Rare

  • Agitation or irritability
  • Back pain
  • Blurred or bloody vision
  • Confusion or hallucinations
  • Loss of bladder or bowel control
  • Redness or pain in the eyes
  • Seizures or stiff neck
  • Vomiting
  • Difficulty walking or standing

Unknown Incidence

  • Skin blistering, peeling, or loosening
  • Burning, dry, or itchy eyes
  • Dark urine or light-colored stools
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Upper right stomach pain
  • Yellowing of the eyes or skin
  • Red skin lesions, often with a purple center

Overdose Symptoms

Seek emergency help immediately if you experience any of the following overdose symptoms:

  • Confusion about identity, place, or time
  • Extreme drowsiness
