Tafecta（Tenofovir Alafenamide 25mg)

Tafecta is a generic hepatitis B virus (HBV) nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor and is indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus infection in adults with compensated liver disease.

Tenofovir dose

1. Testing: Prior to initiation of HepBest, test patients for HIV infection. HepBest alone should not be used in patients with HIV infection. Assess serum creatinine, serum phosphorous, estimated creatinine clearance, urine glucose, and urine protein before initiating HepBest and during therapy in all patients as clinically appropriate.

2. Recommended dosage: 25 mg (one tablet) taken orally once daily with food.

3. Renal Impairment: HepBest is not recommended in patients with estimated creatinine clearance below 15 mL per minute

4. Hepatic Impairment: HepBest is not recommended in patients with decompensated (Child-Pugh B or C) hepatic impairment.

Tenofovir side effects:

 Worsening of hepatitis B infection. Your hepatitis B (HBV) infection may become worse (flare-up) if you take Tenofovir and then stop taking it. A “flare-up” is when your HBV infection suddenly returns in a worse way than before.

o Do not run out of Tenofovir. Refill your prescription or talk to your healthcare provider before your Tenofovir is all gone.

o Do not stop taking Tenofovir without first talking to your healthcare provider. o If you stop taking Tenofovir, your healthcare provider will need to check your health often and do blood tests regularly for several months to check your HBV infection. Tell your healthcare provider about any new or unusual symptoms you may have after you stop taking Tenofovir.
