Nintena 100, also known as nintedanib 100 mg, is a generic drug that functions as a kinase inhibitor. It is prescribed for the following purposes:

• Treating idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
• Treating chronic fibrosing interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) with a progressive phenotype.
• Slowing down the decline of pulmonary function in patients who have systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD).

Nintedanib Dosage

• The recommended dose for this medication is 150 mg taken with food, twice daily and spaced approximately 12 hours apart. Patients with mild hepatic impairment (Child Pugh A) are advised to take 100 mg twice daily, also with food and spaced approximately 12 hours apart.

  In the event of adverse reactions, it may be necessary to temporarily reduce the dose to 100 mg, interrupt treatment, or discontinue it altogether.

  Before starting treatment, all patients should undergo liver function tests, and females of reproductive potential should undergo a pregnancy test.

Nintedanib Side Effects

If you experience any unexplained symptoms such as jaundice (yellowing of the skin or the white part of the eyes), dark or tea-colored urine, pain in the upper right abdomen, abnormal bleeding or bruising, fatigue, or loss of appetite, contact your doctor immediately as these could indicate liver problems. Prior to and during treatment with nintedanib, your doctor will perform blood tests to monitor your liver function.

While taking nintedanib, you may experience diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting. Your doctor may suggest drinking fluids or taking medication to manage these side effects. If these symptoms persist or worsen, or if you are taking laxatives, stool softeners, or other medications or supplements that cause diarrhea, notify your doctor.

Inform your doctor right away if you experience chest pain, pressure, pain in the arms, back, neck, or jaw, or shortness of breath as these may indicate a heart attack. Likewise, if you experience numbness or weakness on one side of your body, difficulty speaking, headache, or dizziness, inform your doctor immediately as these may indicate a stroke.

There is an increased risk of bleeding problems when taking nintedanib. If you experience unusual bleeding, bruising, or wounds that do not heal, or if you are taking blood thinners (including prescription medications and over-the-counter aspirin), inform your doctor.

Taking nintedanib may increase your risk of developing a tear in your stomach or intestinal wall (perforation). Inform your doctor if you experience pain or swelling in the stomach area. The most common side effects of nintedanib include diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, liver problems, decreased appetite, headache, weight loss, and high blood pressure.
