LUPRODEX 11.25, also known as LEUPROLIDE 11.25 MG, contains Leuprolide, which belongs to a group of medicines called Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) Agonists. It is prescribed for various medical conditions.
In the management of endometriosis, LUPRODEX 11.25 helps relieve pain and reduce endometriotic lesions. It is also used as a preoperative treatment to improve blood counts in women with fibroids (abnormal growths in the uterus) who have anemia induced by hormonal suppression required for three months. Additionally, it is utilized in children to treat central precocious puberty (CPP).
Endometriosis is a chronic disease where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, causing pain and potential infertility. Symptoms of endometriosis include painful periods, pelvic pain, pain during sexual intercourse, painful urination, fatigue, depression, bloating, and nausea.
Central precocious puberty (CPP) refers to the early onset of sexual characteristics in girls (usually before 8 years) and boys (usually before 9 years) due to the activation of pubertal pituitary gonadotropins. CPP may result in reduced adult height.
Avoid using LUPRODEX 11.25 (LEUPROLIDE 11.25 MG) if you are allergic to Leuprolide acetate, GnRH, or GnRH agonist analogs. Before starting this medication, inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney impairment or undiagnosed abnormal uterine bleeding.
LUPRODEX 11.25 (LEUPROLIDE 11.25 MG) is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women. It should not be used in children and adolescents (below 18 years) for endometriosis and fibroids.
For the treatment of central precocious puberty (CPP), it is not recommended for children below 2 years of age. It is also not recommended for elderly patients (above 65 years). Consult your doctor before starting this medication.
Common side effects associated with the use of LUPRODEX 11.25 (LEUPROLIDE 11.25 MG) include hot flashes, sweating, general pain, headache, gastrointestinal disorders, water retention-related swelling, nausea, vomiting, reduced libido, and dizziness. If any of these side effects worsen, consult your doctor.

leuprolide acetate generic
I received my first leuprolide shot 15 days before radiation treatment. I am experiencing hot flashes and some muscle and joint pain, but it's manageable. The shots are administered every 3 months. My PSA levels have dropped significantly from 11.5 to 0.1. My next shot is scheduled in a couple of weeks, and I haven't encountered any issues with the shot or its aftermath. Personally, I believe leuprolide has been beneficial for me, but I understand that everyone's experience may vary. Wishing good luck to all those dealing with prostate cancer.
