Afayro 40 (Afatinib 40mg)

Afayro 40 (Afatinib 40mg) is a kinase inhibitor available in a generic form and is recommended for the following purposes:

1. As a first-line therapy for patients who have metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with non-resistant epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations as confirmed by an FDA-approved test.

Limitation of Use: The effectiveness and safety of Afatinib have not been established in patients with tumors that have resistant EGFR mutations.

2. As a treatment option for patients with metastatic squamous NSCLC that has progressed after platinum-based chemotherapy.

Afatinib DOSAGE

1. The suggested dose is to take 40 mg orally once a day.

2. For patients with severe renal impairment, the dose should be reduced to 30 mg orally once a day.

3. Patients should be advised to take Afatinib at least one hour prior to, or two hours following a meal.

Afatinib Side Effects

Notify your doctor if any of the following symptoms associated with Afatinib use are severe or persistent:

• Swollen or cracked lips, or sores in the mouth corners
• Dry skin or itchiness
• Loss of appetite
• Nail infection
• Acne
• Nosebleeds

Some side effects of Afatinib can be severe. In case you experience any of the symptoms mentioned below or those specified in the IMPORTANT WARNING section, cease the use of Afatinib and seek immediate medical attention:

• Diarrhea
• Dehydration signs such as dark urine, dry skin, decreased sweating, and dry mouth
• Reduced urination
• Swelling in the lower legs, feet, hands, or arms
• Rash
• Skin peeling, pain, redness, or blistering
• Difficulty in breathing
• Rapid or irregular heartbeat, or pounding sensation in the chest
• Sudden weight gain
• Cough
• Fever
• Excessive fatigue
• Pain in the upper right section of the stomach
• Unusual bleeding or bruising
• Nausea or vomiting
• Yellowing of the eyes or skin
• Dark urine
• Swollen, painful, teary, or red eyes
• Sudden vision changes, including blurred vision
• Light sensitivity
