Afayro 30 (Afatinib 30mg)

Afayro 30, a generic form of Afatinib 30mg, is a kinase inhibitor that is prescribed for the following reasons:

1. It is recommended as a first-line therapy for patients who have metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with non-resistant epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations, as confirmed by an FDA-approved test.

Note: It should be noted that the effectiveness and safety of Afatinib have not been established in patients with tumors that have resistant EGFR mutations.

2. It is also an option for the treatment of metastatic squamous NSCLC that has progressed after platinum-based chemotherapy.

Afatinib DOSAGE

It is recommended to take a 40 mg oral dose of Afatinib once a day. However, in the case of patients with severe renal impairment, the dose should be reduced to 30 mg orally once a day.

Patients should be informed that they need to take Afatinib at least one hour before or two hours after a meal.

Afatinib Side Effects

If you experience any of the following symptoms associated with the use of Afatinib, inform your doctor immediately, especially if they are severe or persistent:

• Sores in the mouth corners, swollen or cracked lips
• Itchiness or dry skin
• Loss of appetite
• Nail infection
• Acne
• Nosebleeds

Some side effects of Afatinib can be severe. If you experience any of the symptoms mentioned below or those specified in the IMPORTANT WARNING section, stop taking Afatinib and seek immediate medical attention:

• Diarrhea
• Signs of dehydration, such as decreased sweating, dark urine, dry mouth, and dry skin
• Reduced urination
• Swelling in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
• Rash
• Skin peeling, pain, redness, or blistering
• Difficulty breathing
• Rapid or irregular heartbeat, or pounding sensation in the chest
• Sudden weight gain
• Cough
• Fever
• Excessive fatigue
• Pain in the upper right section of the stomach
• Unusual bleeding or bruising
• Nausea or vomiting
• Yellowing of the eyes or skin
• Dark urine
• Swollen, painful, teary, or red eyes
• Sudden changes in vision, including blurred vision
• Light sensitivity
