Afayro 20 (Afatinib 20mg)

Afayro 20mg, a generic version of Afatinib 20mg, functions as a kinase inhibitor and is prescribed for the following purposes:

1. As a first-line therapy for patients diagnosed with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that possesses non-resistant epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations, confirmed through an FDA-approved test.

Please note that Afatinib's effectiveness and safety have not been established in patients with tumors that have resistant EGFR mutations.

2. It is also an alternative treatment option for metastatic squamous NSCLC that has progressed following platinum-based chemotherapy.

Afatinib DOSAGE

The suggested dosage for Afatinib is a single 40 mg oral dose per day. However, if a patient has severe renal impairment, the dosage should be lowered to 30 mg orally per day.

Patients must be informed that Afatinib should be taken at least one hour before or two hours after a meal.

Afatinib Side Effects

In the event of experiencing any of the following symptoms due to Afatinib use, it is essential to inform your doctor right away, particularly if they are severe or persistent:

• Itchiness or dry skin
• Loss of appetite
• Nail infection
• Acne
• Nosebleeds

Afatinib may cause severe side effects. If any of the symptoms mentioned below or in the IMPORTANT WARNING section occur, stop taking Afatinib immediately and seek prompt medical attention:

• Diarrhea
• Signs of dehydration, such as decreased sweating, dark urine, dry mouth, and dry skin
• Reduced urination
• Swelling in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
• Rash
• Skin peeling, pain, redness, or blistering
• Difficulty breathing
• Rapid or irregular heartbeat, or pounding sensation in the chest
• Sudden weight gain
• Cough
• Fever
• Excessive fatigue
• Pain in the upper right section of the stomach
• Unusual bleeding or bruising
• Nausea or vomiting
• Yellowing of the eyes or skin
• Swollen, painful, teary, or red eyes
• Sudden changes in vision, including blurred vision
• Light sensitivity
