Afanat (Afatinib 30 mg)

Afanat is the generic version of Afatinib 30mg, which functions as a kinase inhibitor and is prescribed for the following purposes:

• As a first-line therapy for patients with non-resistant epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations in metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) confirmed through an FDA-approved test. Please note that the effectiveness and safety of Afatinib have not been established for patients with tumors that have resistant EGFR mutations.
• As an alternative treatment option for metastatic squamous NSCLC that has progressed following platinum-based chemotherapy.

Afatinib Dosage

The suggested dosage for Afatinib is a single 40 mg oral dose per day. Nevertheless, if a patient has severe renal impairment, the dosage should be lowered to 30 mg orally per day.

It is important to inform patients that Afatinib should be taken at least one hour before or two hours after a meal.

Afatinib 30 mg cost is only 5% of afatinib 30mg tablet price. 

Afatinib Side Effects

If you experience any of the following symptoms while taking Afatinib, it is crucial to inform your doctor immediately, particularly if they are severe or persistent:

• Swollen or cracked lips, sores in the corners of the mouth
• Itchiness or dry skin
• Loss of appetite
• Nail infection
• Acne
• Nosebleeds

Afatinib may also cause severe side effects. If any of the symptoms listed below or in the IMPORTANT WARNING section occur, stop taking Afatinib immediately and seek prompt medical attention:

• Diarrhea
• Signs of dehydration, such as decreased sweating, dark urine, dry mouth, and dry skin
• Reduced urination
• Swelling in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
• Rash
• Skin peeling, pain, redness, or blistering
• Difficulty breathing
• Rapid or irregular heartbeat or pounding sensation in the chest
• Sudden weight gain
• Cough
• Fever
• Excessive fatigue
• Pain in the upper right section of the stomach
• Unusual bleeding or bruising
• Nausea or vomiting
• Yellowing of the eyes or skin
• Swollen, painful, teary, or red eyes
• Sudden changes in vision, including blurred vision
