Glenza is the generic form of Enzalutamide, an androgen receptor inhibitor used to treat castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). It is manufactured by Glenmark, a well-known and publicly listed pharmaceutical company based in India.
Enzalutamide Cost
The price of Glenza (Enzalutamide 40 mg) in India is approximately 88% lower compared to its previous cost, making it a significantly more affordable treatment option.
Enzalutamide Dosage
The recommended dosage of Enzalutamide is 160 mg once daily, taken orally as four 40 mg capsules. Capsules should be swallowed whole and may be taken with or without food.
Patients prescribed Enzalutamide should also be receiving a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analog or should have undergone bilateral orchiectomy.
Possible Side Effects of Enzalutamide
Seizures
Enzalutamide may increase the risk of seizures. Patients should avoid activities that could be dangerous in the event of sudden loss of consciousness. Notify your healthcare provider immediately if you experience a seizure or lose consciousness.
Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES)
Enzalutamide has been associated with PRES, a rare brain condition. Symptoms may include seizures, headache, confusion, decreased alertness, or visual disturbances. Seek immediate medical attention if any of these symptoms occur.
Allergic Reactions
Allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat may occur. Discontinue the medication and seek emergency medical help if you experience any signs of an allergic reaction.
Heart Disease
Some patients have experienced ischemic heart disease (blockage of heart arteries), which can be life-threatening. Your healthcare provider will monitor your heart health during treatment. Seek urgent care if you experience chest pain, discomfort, or shortness of breath.
Falls and Fractures
Treatment with Enzalutamide may increase the risk of falls and bone fractures. These events have occurred independently of seizures or fainting. Your doctor will assess and monitor your risk during therapy.
