Finasteride also known as Finpecia is a 5α-reductase inhibitor prescribed for the treatment of male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) and is intended for use in MEN ONLY. FINASTERIDE is not recommended for use in women.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
FINASTERIDE may be administered with or without meals.
· One tablet (1 mg) taken once daily.
· In general, daily use for three months or more is necessary before benefit is observed
Finasteride Side Effects:
- Decrease in PSA Levels: FINASTERIDE can lower your blood Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) levels, which may affect PSA tests used to screen for prostate cancer. It's important to inform your healthcare provider that you are taking FINASTERIDE, as it decreases PSA levels. Any changes in PSA levels will need to be assessed by your healthcare provider. An increase in PSA levels from their lowest point, even if still within the normal range, could indicate the presence of prostate cancer and should be further evaluated. If you have not been taking FINASTERIDE as prescribed, this may also affect PSA test results, so be sure to inform your healthcare provider. For more information, consult your healthcare provider.
- Increased Risk of Prostate Cancer: There may be an elevated risk of developing a more serious form of prostate cancer in men taking finasteride at five times the prescribed dose of FINASTERIDE.

- Decreased sex drive
- Difficulty getting or maintaining an erection
- Reduced semen volume
